Shangri-la.

Two of my grandsons, George and Finn, playing new year's day Cricket on Keppel Island Queensland Oz.

You can see why they live over there, can't you!

Thanks to Tenpin for the beautiful photo.

    1. I could cope with that, especially if I was on that beach (above).

  3. It's hot at Christmas time here in South Africa as well. I like the B&W image of your sporty grandsons. Happy New Year Cro and Lady M.

    2. Surely someone would look after Bok for you if you go with Lady M. this year.

    3. I can't face 24 hours in a plane; no way! I'm waiting for that long over-due super sonic 5 hour flight.

    4. You could break your journey, Cro. Singapore is a great stopover. Years ago the journey was done in three eight-hour hops.

    5. Vancouver is a lovely city - a week there is delightful and a week in Hawaii. Problem sorted.

  4. I would love to be there...
-5 here now; grass, parked cars and roof tops are white!
The word shangri-la reminds me of a film, "Lost Horizon"

  5. Wonderful photo of life downunder. I really prefer winter but at the moment just the sight of those two on the beach warms my bones

  6. It looks like Paradise, indeed, Cro. - Who would really want to come back to Europe when they have that on their doorstep, and guaranteed year-round sunshine?
It's probably about 10ÂșC here, but I haven't yet been out to check. It's just getting light, and looking at the sky, it's overcast too.

    1. I've just returned from my semi-light walk, and I don't think it was even -1 C. Cool but pleasant.

  7. Looks wonderful but I can SO understand you not wanting to do that flight, even with a stopover. (Buddy is currently camping in the real outback, looks scary, he'd rather be at the beach.)

    1. I've been on a 6 hour flight, and nearly went crazy. I almost 'panicked'. No, I stay home and look after the animals.

  8. I don't know how the boys managed to play amongst all those crowds !!!! Haha !! A lovely life for them all.
..... although, for me, I love the crisp, frosty days around Christmas .... we went to Florida for Christmas once and it just wasn't the same !!!! XXXX

    1. I haven't minded our recent winters at all. They've been quite mild with no snow; just how I like them.

  9. You could get a photo like that on Holkham Beach in North Norfolk today but of course it would be something like minus 3 degrees.

  10. Indeed I can see - it looks lovely Cro. The only thing is that our freezing winters do give us comparison on the rare hot days we have.

    1. Yes, I'd miss the seasons, but they do have a bit of everything.
